Modern Storybook Script:
This playful alphabet has FUN written all over it! This charming, casual, easy script gives a fresh, modern twist to the traditional alphabet. In this two-day workshop by Kathy Milici, you’ll first learn some of the tools of calligraphy and how to use them. Then you’ll learn a series of simple strokes that form this whimsical yet elegant alphabet; first lower case letters, then upper case capitals. We’ll also examine letter endings, connectors, ligatures, numbers and punctuation. Strokes into letters, letters to words, words to sentences…and voila! You have a brand new, useful and versatile alphabet style that is so easy to make uniquely your own!

Cost and Registration:
The cost for the weekend is $100, plus a $5 materials fee. JNB has her Supply List on their website.

Supply List: Parts 1 and 2
Part 1:
Straight Pen Holder, Speedball, black plastic, or your favorite holder
Oblique Pen Holder (optional)
3 Nikko G nibs, or your favorites (make sure the nib fits in your holder)
Other recommended nibs: Zebra G, Hunt 22, Blue Pumpkin (Brause 361 Steno),
Brause EF66, Gillott 303/404, Leonardt Principal.
Sumi Moon Palace Black Ink (green top) or your favorite black ink
Dinky Dip
12” clear plastic ruler
Pencil
Kneaded eraser
Plastic Pipette or Dropper Bottle
Borden and Riley Boris Marker Layout pad, 9 X 12, 50 sheets
Grid (graph) paper, a few sheets, I like 5 squares per inch (Rhodia ok too)
Tracing Paper, a few sheets
Viva Paper Towels (a few sheets)
Matches
Scotch Removable Tape (blue label, optional)
Part 2:
Please bring same supplies as Part 1, but add these items:
Dr. Martin’s Bleed Proof White
Fons and Porter White Mechanical Pencil
Dinky Dip
Extra Nibs
Factis Black Eraser
Dark colored card stock, a few sheets, 8 ½ X 11 (smooth surface, black ok)
Dark colored envelopes, different sizes, whatever you have
(I will provide some too)
Optional: Sakura Gelly Roll pens, gold or silver or sparkle
Colored Pencils, just a few colors
